Based on your contact list in MarketingPlatform, you can create audiences on Facebook. Simply put, MarketingPlatform allows users to segment their best contacts and upload them to Facebook as target groups (audiences).
When email addresses are uploaded to Facebook, Facebook tries to pair the email addresses with active Facebook profiles. That is, you can only target your ads on Facebook to those contacts who have an active Facebook profile. Based on the newly created target group, it is also possible for you to create so-called lookalike audiences on Facebook, where Facebook tries to find profiles that resemble those that you have uploaded.
This article is about Facebook audiences, but we will continuously update with audiences to other systems.
How to use the Social Audiences feature
You can log in on your Facebook account via your contact list. In order to use this feature, you need to have a Facebook ad account under your own login.
In the menu on the right, go to Contact Lists – View Contact Lists. Next, choose to edit your list, and under the tab “Connect this contact with social audiences” select Facebook. You are then via a new window redirected to Facebook where you need to log in. After you have successfully logged in, select below which account you want to use for social audiences. After that, go to the top of the page and click “Save and close.”

Upload your list
You can upload your contact list to different places: Either via “View contact lists” or “View segments”. You simply need to click on the Facebook icon in the overview.
Next, select which contacts you want to upload; should it only be the active, or also the inactive as unsubscribed or unconfirmed contacts. The next time you log in to your Facebook ad account and go under the section “Audiences”, you will be able to see the uploaded list from MarketingPlatform, and you will be able to continue working on it from there.
Choose the contacts you want to upload.
