What Is A Good Email List?
A good email list is your funnel for converting leads into sales. When it comes to building an email list there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration.
Know Your Audience
Knowing your target audience will help you determine a call-to-action plan. Your call to action should provide the consumer with a valid reason for them to want to click and subscribe to your mailing list. Show them the value it will offer them, otherwise they will be reluctant to click.
Pop-ups or slide-ins for each page on your website are a good method to obtain quick and easy sign ups. Be mindful however as some people will find these annoying, so another approach is to delay the time in which they appear.
Studies have shown that websites with 10-15 landing pages tend to increase conversion rates by over 50%. Here you can encourage people to sign up immediately but do not ask for too much information. Make it easy for them, short and sweet.
There are always incentives to offer in exchange for a subscriber. Entice people with prizes, referrals, or loyalty programs. You can use existing customers to help you build your list. This can help reduce the cost of bringing in new customers.
While the objective is to create a good email list, it is important to not fall into the trap of obtaining emails for the sake of obtaining numbers. Quality far outweighs quantity. Use of double-opt-in subscriptions will confirm the recipient’s interest in receiving your newsletters.
Another trap to avoid is to never buy an email list. This will not only have a negative impact on your open rates, as you will end up with poor quality and an audience which is not intended for your content but can also land you in trouble with the law because in some countries it is illegal to send unsolicited emails.
